Though encountering problems over the course of one’s life is a perfectly normal occurrence, it can be incredibly taxing. My goal is to always quickly and effectively help my clients find a solution to overcome these debilitating conflicts. The first step in this direction is the creation of a wholesome and trusting environment in which it is possible to work together in developing strategies to face such challenges. A key element in achieving this goal is the reestablishment of the clients’ relationship with their own resources, abilities, and strengths. In order to change certain behaviors (such as addiction, compulsive and anxious behaviors) I apply techniques from systemic and behavioral therapies; hypnosis can be used upon the client’s explicit demand.
Given the case of a deep seated problematic that is closely entwined with the entire personality, the best way forward is the application of Davanlaoo’s method of Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy. Fourty years of empirical research has lead to a solid treatment of various forms of anxiety and depression, as well as other mental disorders such as personality and social disorders. The aim of this technique is to overcome emotional blockages from the first meetings onwards, by accessing the subconscious roots of the disorder and removing them effectively and completely. ISTDP differs from other psychological treatments as it is a method that directly targets the emotional center of the symptoms (see: www.istdp.com).
Another focus area of my work is couples counselling. One often hears the same old story: each party tries to solve conjugal problems individually at first, yet when they finally try to work together, it’s already too late. It doesn’t have to be this way! Choosing this therapeutic option that is at both temporally limited to 3 to 10 sessions while also being financially viable, not only often leads to realistic chances of saving what can’t be saved, but also almost always can turn a crisis into a new beginning.
